As Vice President of Rafferty Subaru — the Newtown Square car dealership that participates in the annual Subaru Share the Love event, which has seen retailers nationwide donate more than $256 million to charity in the last 15 years — Bob Rafferty is often approached by nonprofits hoping to be the beneficiary of his donation.
Many of these organizations do outstanding work, but none have been able to, as Rafferty said, “dot all the I’s and cross all the T’s” the way one in particular has.
That’s why Rafferty Subaru has been presenting check after check, year after year, to Partners in Outreach. The mission of Partners in Outreach is to improve the lives of local children by closing literacy gaps, supporting summer camp participation, and enhancing holiday and cultural expression.
“When my wife and I sit down and discuss different charities and where we want to steer our donations, it’s important that the money stays local,” said Rafferty. “One of the main reasons we keep giving to Partners in Outreach and (president and founder) Maryanne Parsons is that they’re supporting underprivileged children in our backyard and in several different ways.”
Rafferty said that Partners in Outreach’s core values make it very easy for him to support.
“They’re a 100-percent-volunteer organization,” he said. “They’re extremely thankful for everything given to them, and Maryanne maximizes all the funds they receive.”
Last April, Rafferty Subaru presented Partners in Outreach with a $20,000 check, bringing the total the dealership has donated to the nonprofit to more than $100,000 in the last nine years.
Because of its support of community causes, Rafferty Subaru received the 2023 Subaru Love Promise Customer and Community Commitment Award, which recognizes elite Subaru retailers across the country that are working to make a positive impact in the world.
“We are incredibly grateful for Rafferty Subaru,” said Parsons. “They lift us up in so many ways.”
