Ryan Williams cut down his options for college basketball and chose Northeastern University.

Ryan Williams, the 6-foot-4 Malvern Prep and Philly Pride guard, announced last week he had chosen to officially commit to Northeastern University, writes Dylan Lutey for the City of Basketball Love

“It was always a dream of mine to be able to play Division One basketball because that’s what I watched,” said Williams. “I really watched more college basketball than NBA as a kid. I was still watching the NBA, but it was just the excitement that college basketball brought to other people.”

The talented player finalized his decision after a telephone conversation he had on Wednesday with Northeastern head coach Bill Coen. For Williams, choosing where he will continue his basketball career lifted a huge weight off his shoulders.

“I feel like I get to be a regular senior kid now,” he said. “I get to play basketball [and] do all the other stuff a normal kid would do.”

He pointed to the “family-based aspect they brought to the basketball [program]” as one of the reasons why he chose Northeastern, along with the NIL money and academic experience the school had to offer him.
