BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars Celebrates ‘Finest Examples’ of What a Leader Can, Should Be
Local community and business leaders recently gathered at the Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America’s Program, Activity, and Resource Campus (PARC) in Exton to honor the third class of BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars for their character, service, vision, courage, passion, and humility.
With assistance from VISTA Today, the Chester County Council launched BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars in 2021 to annually recognize 12 Chester County leaders who are shaping the county’s future through their leadership.
BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars embody the 12 Principles of the Scout Law — Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent — and therefore serve as an exemplary role model for young people.
This year’s class of BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars included:
- Kimberly Brumbaugh, Founder and CEO, Brumbaugh Wealth Management
- Terence Farrell, President, For Real Solutions
- Jeanne Franklin, County Health Director, Chester County Health Department
- Stacey Fuller, Managing Partner, Gawthrop Greenwood
- Fred Hubler, President and Chief Wealth Strategist, Creative Capital Wealth Management Group
- Ryan Leithead, Senior Sales Manager of Security Business, Siemens
- Cheryl Miles, Community Housing Development Director, Kennett Area Community Service
- Maria O’Connell, Owner, Express Employment Professionals, Chester County
- Gregory Reaves, Founder and Co-Owner, Mosaic Development Partners
- Todd Sowinski, Senior Director of Global Enterprise Risk Management and Corporate Security, West Pharmaceutical Services
- Patti VanCleave, Vice President of Workforce Development and STEM, Chester County Economic Development Council
- Greg Vietri, President and CEO, G.A. Vietri Electrical Construction
“The leadership traits and skills these individuals exemplify are what we aim to develop in the youth we serve through Scouting,” said Jeff Spencer, CEO of the Chester County Council.
Hubler called it “an honor” to be named a BSA VISTA Leadership Megastar.
“Chester County has many megastars,” he said, “and I’m grateful to be considered one of them.”
Chartered more than 100 years ago, the Chester County Council serves thousands of Scouts each year and partners with more than 80 community organizations to deliver programs and activities that allow youth to try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence, reinforce ethical standards, and develop leadership and citizenship skills that influence their lives as adults.
“Scouting develops leadership skills in youth to help enable them to be future leaders in our communities and nation,” said Spencer. “BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars celebrates 12 people each year with ties to Chester County who are the finest examples of what a leader can and should be. So, this event, in many ways, is a manifestation of all we aim to accomplish through Scouting, which is producing future leaders who exhibit strong character, citizenship, and personal fitness.”
