Aside from achieving notable success in their chosen profession or trade, recipients must work, live, or study in Chester County, and be actively engaged, either professionally or through their volunteer work, in efforts to improve Chester County’s quality of place.
How will nominees be evaluated?
A committee will evaluate and select the 12 award recipients from the nearly 150 expected submissions based on:
• Leadership (public profile, reputation)
• Business success (financial results, career milestones)
• Community involvement (volunteer work, advocacy)
• Influence (impact on their community, company, industry or on Chester County’s overall quality of place)
How can I nominate someone for BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars?
Nominations must be submitted online.
Can I nominate myself
Yes. Fill out the nominee form and submit it for consideration.
Can I nominate multiple Individuals?
Yes. If nominating multiple individuals, a separate form should be completed for each nomination.
Who decides who will be BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars?
A panel of business, nonprofit, educational and civic leaders organized by VISTA Today and the Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America will select the 12 honorees.
I have someone who is a perfect fit, but I don’t know the exact details on their success. What should I do?
Complete and submit the online nomination form with as much information as you have. We’ll be sure to follow up with each person directly, letting them know that someone thought they would be a good fit for the award.
When will winners be notified?
Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America will notify the honorees beginning June 15th.
Will I be informed if my nominee was selected?
Yes, Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America will notify you in advance of publication of the BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars award recipients.
If I have not heard from Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America by July 9th, does that mean my nominee was not selected?
That would be a fair assumption, but please refer to the previous question.
Can I just call you or send you an email with the name of the person I'd like to nominate?
No. We need to have the form filled out, including contact information for the person you are nominating.
I want to nominate someone, but can I remain anonymous?
No. We need to know who you are, though we do not share nominator information with any third parties.
I want to nominate my boss, but would it be better if someone higher up nominated him/her?
Individuals can be nominated by multiple people.
Can I nominate a family member?
Yes, you can nominate a family member.
Will more than one nominee from the same company be accepted?
You can nominate multiple individuals from one company, but only one will be chosen. However, multiple candidates from separate divisions of large companies could be chosen.
How does the process work?
After we receive a nomination, VISTA Today and Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America vets the candidates and submits lists to the BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars selection committee. The selection committee then holds a series of meetings to determine which nominees will be chosen. The selection committee will strive to come up with a diverse list of award recipients that represents a broad spectrum of Chester County companies, nonprofits, educational institutions and civic organizations.
What is required of those who are selected?
Selected nominees must make themselves available for an interview with VISTA Today’s editor. They are also required to participate in a photoshoot. Award recipients are expected to attend & participate in the event on September 20, 2023. Declining any of these requests may disqualify the candidate.
