West Chester-based QVC was the backdrop for an episode of Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars. The reality competition shows feature business leaders and entrepreneurs all vying for the famous television chef’s $250,000 investment, writes Amanda Bell for The Messenger Entertainment.

The season’s winner, Chris Kanik, recalls the challenge in which the contestants had to sell products on QVC. His two teammates, Tony Balestreri and Aaron Valentine were eliminated. Kanik says that the process was bittersweet, considering how close he got with them. But Valentine now works for his company, Smart Cups

The invention that earned Kanik that grand prize is a 3-D printing technology that reduces emissions during transportation, food, and medicine production.

“Gordon is a remarkable human being, and like I said, he’s at a high level on TV, food and beverage, and humanitarian efforts. And my goal is to unlock some of the humanitarian applications, the medical applications,” he said.
