The restaurant business is booming all around Philly Region, including Montgomery County. Many sweet and savory destinations coming soon.

The restaurant business is booming all around the Philadelphia Region, including Montgomery County, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Here are some new restaurants that are on the horizon in the area:

Kismet Bagels Luncheonette

Alexandra and Jacob Cohen of Kismet Bagels will be opening an expanded shop called Kismet Bagels Luncheonette in late September or early October at 801 Montgomery Avenue in Penn Valley.

The new location is Kismet’s first sit-down location with 25 parking spaces. They will be baking on the premises and will offer an expanded lunch menu.

Mallard at Mainland Inn

The Mainland Inn has been closed for six years, but this fall in its place will be both upscale apartments and a renovated restaurant to be called Mallard at Mainland Inn.

Manuel and Cindy Jiménez, the operators of La Provence in Ambler, will be in charge of the new restaurant.

Lu & Aug’s

Soon there will also be a new ice cream parlor, Lu & Aug’s, at 28 Rittenhouse Place in Ardmore. The shop is named after the owners’ twins, Laiyla and Augustine. Ash and Pretha Kailath hope to open on July, 27, 2023. Their specialty will be affogatos.

Also in the works are an offshoot of Trattoria Carina in Bryn Mawr and a Nifty Fifty’s in Abington.
