The restaurant scene in Chester County is thriving, with many new additions opening their doors for the first time in recent months, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

De La Terre BYOB in Downingtown is a modern French-American restaurant with local seasonal ingredients. Chef Andrew Hufnagel has put together a menu that offers small and large plates for lunch and dinner. Some of the local favorites include oysters in apple tarragon mignonette, venison with a crust of espresso and cocoa nib, and an Elysian Fields Farm braised lamb shank.

Ground Provisions in West Chester, opened by Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby of Center City’s Vedge, is a plant-based market and an elegant restaurant that serves a five-course tasting menu along with a wine pairing.

Finally, Joey Chops in Malvern is a stylish but family-friendly steakhouse open for lunch and dinner. Owners Justin Weathers and Joe Monnich have separated the bar from the dining room and put together a more concise menu than at their Stove & Tap locations.

The eatery offers wood-fired steaks, oysters Rockefeller, wedge salad, and raw-bar selections.
