Even before getting married, Laura Reynolds knew she wanted a big family, writes Anndee Hochman for The Philadelphia Inquirer

During her time at Temple University studying for her master’s degree in social work, she spent most of her free time volunteering at a long-term care facility for medically fragile children.

“She was working with these children who had a lot of needs, a lot of brokenness, a lot of hurt, a lot of trauma,” said her husband Bill. “I realized that she had a special heart.”

The two met in 2012 and clicked immediately, realizing they shared many values.

They tied the knot in a barn in Honey Brook in 2015. They decided to start building their family right away, but also decided it would be of both biological and adopted children.

Their first child, Adelynn Grace, was born two years later. They started the adoption process in September 2018 and got a call from Bethany Christian Services in 2021.

“We have this baby,” they said. “She has down syndrome. We think you might be the ones.”

They soon met their second daughter, Safina, who was officially adopted on May 9, 2023.
