Family Service Partners with County Agency to Help At-Risk Families

The Chester County Department of Children, Youth & Families (CYF) and Family Service of Chester County continue to partner in funding the Exchange Club Family program. This marks the fourth year that both organizations have collaborated to provide critical services for at-risk families throughout Chester County.

The Exchange Club Family Center (ECFC) program is designed to prevent child abuse while keeping families connected. Case managers work directly with at-risk families to address short-term needs such as food, clothing, and shelter while creating integrative action plans for long-term family wellness such as higher education, better employment opportunities, improved housing conditions, and parenting skills.

“Provider agencies like Family Service of Chester County provide critically important services to families in our community which allow families to address barriers impacting the wellbeing of caregivers and children,” said Cindy Scott, Quality Assurance Manager for the Chester County Department of Children, Youth & Families. “We value our ongoing partnership with the Exchange Club Family Center, which positively improves the lives of families.”

This partnership has helped hire three additional case managers that have helped over 80 families since 2020. Currently, there are 47 families enrolled in the program.

Family Service of Chester County’s mission is dedicated to providing access and removing barriers to social services for clients who need it most. By combining forces with Chester County CYF through this collaborative effort they will ensure more individuals receive the support required when they need it most.

“We are excited about continuing our partnership with CYF,” said Mark Butler, Executive Director at Family Service in a statement. “Together we continue making strides toward achieving goals related to preventing child abuse and building stronger families throughout Chester County.”

The mission of the Chester County Department of Children, Youth, and Families is to utilize high-quality, comprehensive social services that strengthen the family’s ability to provide for the safety and well-being of each child. Family Service of Chester County intervenes to provide those services.
