Chester County travelers can drive down to the Wilmington Airport for the perfect, cheap weekend getaway. Eight new routes are launching on June 22-28 to select vacation destinations across the Eastern U.S., writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.  

Avelo Airlines is hoping to follow its string of recent success. It has carried over 50,000 passengers on over 400 flights since launching.

On June 22, Avelo will begin flights to Nashville, Raleigh, Wilmington (North Carolina), and the Greenville and Spartanburg area. On the 23, routes to Daytona Beach, Myrtle Beach, and Charleston will begin.  

On June 28, the 90-employee company will launch its Savannah, Georgia, and Hilton Head, South Carolina routes. Flights will be between $29 to $49, a steal for residents in the Philadelphia region who hope to get away.  

Avelo Airlines has other bases in New Haven, Raleigh, Burbank, and Orlando.
