Workplace conflict can be difficult to navigate, especially if it involves personal problems. However, there are ways to deal with office disputes by understanding the following features of conflict according to Forbes contributor Anna Shields.  

There are No Shortcuts 

The only way to resolve conflict is to get through it. Make sure no issue goes unaddressed and no stone unturned when it comes to people’s frustrations. Only skimming the issue on a surface level can make your colleagues feel like they’re not being listened to. It’s important to dive deep into the conflict so you can identify the source.  

Learn to Sit in the Discomfort 

Yes, conflict is uncomfortable, but you can’t beat around the bush. However, using your communications skills and confidence can help make these conversations bring you the clarity that you’re looking for.  

Accept That There is a Larger Structure 

There are things that might contribute to workplace conflict that are out of your control. It might be due to organizational issues, a drawn-out dispute between two coworkers, or company culture. Sometimes companies deal with conflict in different ways.
