After being closed for three years due to the pandemic, required repairs, and a shortage of lifeguards, French Creek State Park pool in Elverson has reopened and is once again welcoming families that want to enjoy a relaxing day of swimming and sunbathing, writes Lisa Mitchell for The Daily Local News

“So many health benefits are achieved by simply being outside amongst nature,” said park operations manager James Wassell. “The pool is a great resource to get families out of the house and in nature where we can then serve our primary mission of being an outdoor classroom by teaching our visitors the importance of parks, nature, and natural and cultural resources.”

The pool reopened on Memorial Day weekend. The hope is that the families that come to visit the pool will realize there are also many other activities they can enjoy in the park.

“Once families come to the park, they see there is so much more to offer including picnicking, biking, wildlife watching, camping, over 50 miles of trails, and watersports,” said Wassell.
