Malvern Man Among Throngs of People Enjoying Summer at the Shore

Over the past weekend of Father’s Day, many vacationers and visitors headed down to the beach to enjoy some sun, sand, and swimming, writes Trish Hartman for 6ABC.

Ocean City is not the only New Jersey town seeing an influx of families and friends, as Avalon beaches were also packed. Numerous ways to play included wiffle ball, digging holes, and the ever-popular pickleball.

Additionally, a beach basketball hoop was anchored into the sand.

“You get to dunk a lot so it’s fun,” said John Corcoran of Malvern. Corcoran came down with some friends and was thoroughly enjoying the afternoon like everyone around him.

And visitors aren’t the only ones happy to be at the beach. Businesses such as Buccaneer Ice Cream and Candy are hitting off the start of summer well.

“There’s a lot of activities that have been brought in for Father’s Day weekend to kind of draw business,” said manager Kiriana D’Imperio. “So now that there’s a federal holiday that Monday, I think more people have stayed down than typically would have.”
