Back and Better Than Ever, Beaches Open for Chester County Vacationers

The shore is open and busy as the unofficial start of summer began this past Memorial Day weekend with hundreds flocking to Ocean City, New Jersey beaches and beyond, and many Chester County vacationers were among the groups, write Trish Hartman and Bryanna Gallagher for 6ABC News.

Local business owners were out on the sand, some dressed in costumes, to welcome beachgoers and to take part in the Business Persons Plunge into the chilly waves. This weekend is the time when many business owners open and begin their steady roll of profits throughout the summer.

Plenty of families staked out on the beaches. Some even attended the boardwalk despite winds and lower temperatures. However, everyone was celebrating the lack of rain for the weekend. Yet, the chill was not stopping people from enjoying the water and spending time with each other.

“It’s a little chilly but it’s nice, the suns out,” said Laura Tartaglio, of Downingtown.
