Beachgoers from Downingtown Enjoy Their Space — for Now — at the Jersey Shore

By

Downingtown resident Samantha Hamill and her family headed to Sea Isle City this week to enjoy nice weather and plenty of space on the beach, writes Trish Hartman for 6ABC.

The Jersey shore was quiet on Wednesday, with a light breeze making for perfect jacket weather. Action News interviewed the family as Hamill’s kids played in the sand while she sat watching over them in a beach chair.

“I’m on spring break,” she said. “I teach fourth grade, and we just thought it would be fun for the kids to run around all day.”

While the beaches are ready to accommodate tourists and locals alike, some of the shops and restaurants in town are still closed on weekdays are they prepare for the busy summer season.

However, one shop open year-round, Dalrymple’s Card and Gift Shop, is looking forward to the influx of beachgoers.

“It seems to be better. I am hearing from a lot of friends that things are difficult,” said co-owner Chuck Dalrymple. “I think it’s going to be much better than last year. I really do.”
