A Phoenixville neighborhood got together to prepare a special surprise for their longtime USPS carrier Tony’s last day at work, writes Sarah Burns for KTXS 12 ABC

The idea came from a post on a local Facebook group after one of the residents found out he was leaving. Soon, everybody decorated their mailboxes with balloons. Some included letters to thank him for his commitment to their community over the years.

“Since closing my retail store in 2015 to work from home full time selling online, I rely on my carrier to help fulfill my orders,” said Michael Jay, a resident. “Tony was always pleasant and consistent. I will miss him.”

One neighbor noticed Tony get teary-eyed when he saw the balloons and ended up leaving with a truckful.
