Caitlin Coker, who played at Downingtown West and attended Downingtown STEM Academy, has made a name for herself at Boston University, writes Isabella DiAmore for The Philadelphia Inquirer

Coker helped lead her team to its sixth Patriot League title. She batted .700 with three runs and two RBIs, as well as three stolen bases.

She contributed in other ways as well. She helped the No. 25 Boston University claim its second-ever top 25 ranking and win the highest number of games among Northeast schools this season, at 51-8.

And her leadership has also been unmatched, especially during key moments.

Coker got her love for the game from her family. Her father, Chuck, a former Delaware baseball player, taught her to make sure nobody counts her out, people remember her effort, and, most importantly, to have fun.

She also watched her older sisters, Casey and Kelly, play, which motivated her to pick up the sport herself.

“I knew that’s what I wanted to do,” Coker said. “I wanted to follow in my sisters’ footsteps, but I also wanted to use my love for the sport and my skills to get a great education.”
