WCU president Chris Fiorentino shadowed softball coach Diane Lokey at a practice and game this spring.

West Chester University softball coach Diane Lokey is determined to see all of her players win, both on the field and in the classroom, writes WCU president Chris Fiorentino in his blog, entitled “The Heart of the Mattter.”

Throughout the year, Lokey ensures the players maintain their academics and honor the Purple Promise of “Do your part to work toward our team goal of 3.4.”

Lokey recently achieved her 500th career victory, and this spring, she led the Golden Rams to their first-ever appearance in the Division II Women’s College World Series.

Lokey notes that she does not believe in winning at all costs. Her only complaint about this year’s team was that the players were not having enough fun.

“Softball should be fun,” she said.
