A new video offers a behind-the-scenes tour of Herr’s potato chip factory in Nottingham, where the company has been making some of the nation’s favorite snacks for 76 years, writes Michael Klein for the Philadelphia Inquirer

The company was started by the parents of the current Chairman and CEO, Ed Herr. They bought a small potato chip company in 1946 for $1700. They started making potato chips basically by hand and then tried to figure out how to make the best quality potato chip.

Today, that once-small company makes 300 kinds of snacks at its Nottingham plant. Still, potato chips remain the star. There are as many as a dozen truckloads of potatoes that are delivered each day to the factory ready to be turned into delicious chips.

If a video tour makes you want to see how the chips are made in person, the company offers group factory tours.
