Sweet Brew Café, which specializes in New York bagels and lattes, recently celebrated its one-year anniversary of opening in Phoenixville, writes Holly Herman for the Phonixville Patch

During that year owners, Michael and Jamie Weiss, quickly learned how to deal with the ups and downs of owning a small business. And even with the occasional glitch, such as their delivery of genuine New York bagels getting sidetracked by a snowstorm, they are happy to report their business is thriving.

The pair began by creating toppings that were added to cream cheese on fresh bagels. Since then, a lot has happened at the takeout café.

“We expanded the menu,” said Michael Weiss. “We have breakfast sandwiches with bacon, egg, and cheese, and lox and cream cheese. We have lattes and expressos.”

Sweet Brew Café currently has six employees. Each week, a new flavor of coffee and cream cheese is featured. This week, the recommendation is King Cake.

“Next week, we are featuring cinnamon bun flavors,” said Jamie Weiss. “The kids love our rainbow bagels.”

The couple also had a special green bagel in February in support of the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl
