Anthony Pluretti, an Oxford resident who grew up in Seneca Falls, N.Y., is the Executive Director of Campus Safety at Widener University.

“The team we have developed at Widener is one of the best I’ve ever had the privilege of working with,” he said. “Our team is comprised of around 70 staff members, and we’re building an industry-leading campus safety organization. Our accomplishments over the past couple of years are nothing short of remarkable. Widener has always felt like home, and under the leadership of President Stacey Robertson, the campus is in an energized state. Being immersed in that daily is truly something special.”

Pluretti, who began working when he was 16 years old at a Reebok store in Waterloo, N.Y., earned an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Finger Lakes Community College, before joining the Marine Corps as an Infantryman. He later graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Investigations from the State University of New York at Canton. He is currently working toward a master’s degree in Higher Education Leadership at Widener.

Pluretti credits his supervisor, Linda Kiraly Gilbert, the Vice President of Administration and Finance and the Chief Financial Officer at Widener University, with having the biggest impact on his career.

“She has helped me grow exponentially as a professional,” he said. “From emotional intelligence, leadership, financial literacy, and data presentation, she has had a profound impact on my career.”

Pluretti’s proudest professional achievement was being named Campus Safety magazine’s 2022 Campus Safety Director of the Year.

“The finalists for the award were some of the best professionals in the industry,” he said. “It was an honor to be named the winner.”

Pluretti’s favorite Chester County restaurant is Bellybusters Sub Shoppes in Oxford.

Pluretti and the rest of the 2023 Class of VISTA Millennial Superstars will be honored at the Awards Reception & Celebration on Thursday, May 18 at Penn State Great Valley.
