Malvern resident Tom Kramer is preparing to race in four triathlons within 30 days in honor of his wife Pam’s 18-year battle with myelofibrosis, a rare blood disorder, writes Bruce Adams for the Main Line Times & Suburban

The 57-year-old Kramer plans to compete in two Ironman triathlons in New York and two national triathlons in Milwaukee this summer.

The veteran triathlete considers his ambitious 30-day schedule a small sacrifice compared to what his wife has experienced after being diagnosed with myelofibrosis two decades ago.

“Pam is way tougher than any Ironman I know, battling pain and ups and downs every day, but we will get to the finish line,” said Kramer.

As soon as he found out that Pam’s best chance at survival was a blood stem cell transplant, Kramer partnered with DKMS, the largest blood stem cell donor center in the world, to raise awareness of the dire need for more donors.

Since 2011, he has inspired over 6,000 people to join the stem cell donor registry and raised over $33,000 for DKMS.

Pam received her stem cell transplant on April 1, 2022.
