Birchrun Hills Farm in Chester Springs Among Must-Visit Pennsylvania Cheesemakers
Birchrun Hills Farm in Chester Springs is one of six Pennsylvania cheesemakers that should not be missed when cheese cravings hit, writes Robin Shreeves for The Keystone.
Pennsylvania is one of the highest cheese producers in the country, coming behind only six other states with 43.5 million pounds produced in 2021. Most of this cheese production comes from smaller, family-owned creameries, such as Birchrun Hills Farm.
The local creamery’s award-winning Birchrun Blue cheese is a favorite for many in the region, including The Philadelphia Inquirer food critic Craig LaBan. The semi-soft blue cheese is made using raw cow’s milk from Birchrun Hills Farm.
The farm focuses on environmental stewardship and the welfare and health of its animals, along with crafting the highest quality products.
Birchrun Hills hosts many different events on the farm throughout the year, including Friday Happy Hours with wines from Le Garage Winery in Chester Springs. It also ensures to participate in farmers markets throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania.
