The Brandywine Valley SPCA in West Chester recently welcomed 68 dogs and cats that were rescued from Hurricane Ian, writes Fran Maye for the Daily Local News.

“We began getting ready as soon as we saw Hurricane Ian’s potential path,” said Adam Lamb, CEO of the Brandywine Valley SPCA.

The animals arrived on the Wings of Rescue flight that was made possible by funding from the nonprofit Petco Love. The dogs and cats that were transferred to the Brandywine Valley SPCA were adoptable at shelters before the storm.

The new arrivals will be evaluated by the medical team at the Brandywine Valley SPCA and will be available for adoption at the organization’s West Chester headquarters.

“We need our community to join us in this emergency situation by adopting and donating,” said Lamb.
