For the fifth year in a row, West Goshen Township resident Gavin Snyder, 17, put up his West Chester Christmas Light Display, and once again, he managed to break his record in the amount of donations he collected for the Brandywine Valley SPCA, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Local News.

A junior at Rustin High School, Snyder raised more than $11,400 this year for the organization. He had raised a total of $21,000 in the previous four iterations of his fundraiser.

“Such an incredible result,” Kyra Chmael, the BVSPCA’s community engagement coordinator, told Snyder. “The future is bright knowing people like you are advocating for animals in need.”

Since he first started decorating his family’s yard in 2017, the event has grown bigger each year. Today, the display has 40 inflatables and miles of lights, all of which are set to music. This walkable exhibit has become a tradition for many local families who stop by each year to enjoy the view.
