Medical marijuana dispensary PA Options for Wellness opened its fifth location in Kennett Square. This Harrisburg-based company offers a collection of cannabis products from flowers to lozenges, writes Richard Gaw for Chester County Press.

This location is open six days a week and offers on-site consultations, the option to pre-order and curbside delivery. Founded in 2014, the dispensary is anything but typical. Its business model is geared towards research and collaboration with academic institutions.

PA Options for Wellness has been working on hemp-related research with Penn State University College of Medicine. The research is specifically focused on how the medicinal properties of the plants can help with Chron’s disease, diabetes, PTSD, seizures, tumor activity and pain.

“We feel there is a need in this area, because it is an area that we feel has been underserved, not just specifically in Kennett Square, but throughout the western portion of Chester County and even part of Lancaster County,” said Founder & CEO Thomas Trite.

Trite also noted that Pennsylvania is one of the “fastest growing medical markets” in the country. PA Options for Wellness is one of the first recipients of a Clinical Registrant permit.
