For the right buyer, a Central Park view like this can be a daily experience.

At $250 million, the penthouse at New York’s Central Park Tower — a triplex positioned at a height of over 1,400 feet — is the most expensive listing in the U.S., writes Katherine Clarke for The Wall Street Journal.

If it manages to sell for its asking price, it will become the highest-price residential real estate transaction nationwide to date.

The 17,500-plus-square-foot penthouse spans the 129th through 131st floors. It has seven bedrooms and boasts up to 30-foot ceilings. The floors are connected through a winding sculptural staircase. The top floor is currently set up as a private ballroom or entertainment space.

The highlight of this stunning property is the roughly 1,400-square-foot private terrace with its unobstructed views of the city, Central Park, and the Hudson and East rivers.

Developer Gary Barnett, owner of Extell Development, believes that the apartment warrants the price because it is designed to be one unit, unlike some other major condo purchases that had to combine several apartments.

“You don’t have to renovate for four years to create your dream home,” he said. “It’s been built for you.”
