Demolition of the Spellman building, the former home of the West Chester Area School District’s administrative offices, is now underway, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News. 

The property, located at 829 Paoli Pike, also briefly housed West Chester police and borough offices. It will soon be home to an Aldi market and Popeye’s restaurant. 

In February, the board of supervisors provided final approval for the plans for the property after receiving positive feedback from residents about locating an Aldi there. 

“I support bringing business to the township, especially businesses like Aldi that benefit our residents,” supervisor Ashley Gagne said at the time.
