Senor Lift offered a session at Neumann University in 2021.

Senior Lift, a nonprofit organization that has been teaching technology skills to seniors for 13 years, is offering a free technology seminar on Monday, April 25, from 4-6 p.m. in the Abessinio Building at Neumann University.

Dr. Thomas Dodds, director of the Cybersecurity program at Neumann, will present the technology seminar to give participants a basic understanding of 5G technology, the metaverse, cryptocurrencies, and cybersecurity. The program will include tips on how to safeguard computers and mobile devices from cyberattacks.

“This seminar is presented as an additional courtesy for our community,” explains Jennell Williams, director of Senior Lift.  She notes that program participants often express concerns about keeping up with the fast-changing world of technology. The organization’s free programs are meant to make older adults more comfortable with tech.

The seminar is a special program that has been added to the Senior Lift curriculum to mark the conclusion of its fall and winter technology training sessions. New classes for older adults are scheduled to begin in June and September 2022.

Regularly offered classes include Smartphone Basics, Computer Basics, and introductory sessions on Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows 10, Power Point, Google Drive, and social media.

On Wednesday, April 27, from 4-6 p.m., Senior Lift will host a Milestone Celebration for recent training session participants and their families and friends. Community members are also invited to this event to learn more about Senior Lift programs.

Both the April 25 and 27 events will be held in Neumann’s Data Analytics Lab, located on the third floor of the Abessinio Building.
