Houseware emerged as a hit category during the pandemic as consumers spent more time at home than ever in the past two years. Many grocery stores, like Malvern-based Acme Markets, have taken notice, writes Barbara Sax for Progressive Grocer.

Even now, as a lot of consumers gradually get back into their normal routines, interest in houseware is not fading.

To capitalize on this trend, Acme has been finding ways to put more high-impulse specialty items on the shelves in its stores.

The Albertsons-owned chain currently rounds out its in-line section of popular Goodcook products from Bradshaw Home with a clip-strip program of Blueoxo specialized products.

In the last few months, the chain has been including Viovia-branded cheese graters and strainers by Blueoxo in the pasta set. The aisle also featured Viovia hand spiralizers, gripping cutting mats, and reusable bowl covers.

There are also reusable storage bags available by Kolorae.

Acme is also capitalizing on consumers’ growing interest in mixing and serving cocktails at home. It currently features a floor stand in its liquor department from True Brands.
