Malvern-Based Acme Markets Stands Poised to Capitalize After Houseware Became a Hit During the Pandemic
Houseware emerged as a hit category during the pandemic as consumers spent more time at home than ever in the past two years. Many grocery stores, like Malvern-based Acme Markets, have taken notice, writes Barbara Sax for Progressive Grocer.Â
Even now, as a lot of consumers gradually get back into their normal routines, interest in houseware is not fading.
To capitalize on this trend, Acme has been finding ways to put more high-impulse specialty items on the shelves in its stores.
The Albertsons-owned chain currently rounds out its in-line section of popular Goodcook products from Bradshaw Home with a clip-strip program of Blueoxo specialized products. Â
In the last few months, the chain has been including Viovia-branded cheese graters and strainers by Blueoxo in the pasta set. The aisle also featured Viovia hand spiralizers, gripping cutting mats, and reusable bowl covers. Â
There are also reusable storage bags available by Kolorae.
Acme is also capitalizing on consumers’ growing interest in mixing and serving cocktails at home. It currently features a floor stand in its liquor department from True Brands.Â
