Your Care Collective, a startup launched in 2020 by Joelle Tolifero, a West Chester University graduate, uses community to combat workplace burnout, writes Kennedy Rose for The Philadelphia Business Journal

Prior to creating You Care Collective, Tolifero worked with students in residential housing as well as study-abroad programs. While it seemed like the perfect job, she suffered from extreme burnout that caused tension headaches that lasted for days each week.

She then tried to find relief through self-care techniques and therapy, but soon realized that the most effective solution was engaging with different communities.

“I really wanted to create a space and opportunity for employees to find the resources that they need to dig themselves out of burnout and still feel like they can show up to work and be their best selves and contribute to their work environment in a positive way,” she said.

Your Care Collective is a community chat platform that connects users through conversation prompts and events. It currently operates on the workplace messaging platform Slack and is in the process of developing its own platform.
