Pallares Family Holdings looks to open a vineyard and tasting room in Penn Township.

Pallares Family Holdings is asking for approval from Penn Township’s Board of Supervisors to operate a vineyard and tasting room on the property located at 377 and 378 Hood Lane. Steven Hoffman uncorked the reasoning behind the request for the Chester County Press.

According to Enrique Pallares, the plan is for family members to live in the two residences on the 26-acre property, while the site’s country store would be converted into an office and the barn would become a tasting room.

That latter amenity would offer wine both by the bottle and the glass. Its projected maximum occupancy is eight staff and 41 patrons, and the menu will concentrate on only Spanish-style tapas and small plates.

The application submitted by the family business was discussed before last month’s meeting of the township’s Board of Supervisors at a conditional-use hearing.

If the operation is approved, it could open to the public as early as June.

The company currently produces wine under the label Casa Carmen at a shared facility in Baltimore. It has partnerships with two other vineyards, Stag and Thistle and Equivine.

The board did not render a decision at the hearing.
