John Braxton, who runs Braxton’s Animal Works in Wayne, and Mindy Rhodes have found their ideal home. The couple and their numerous pet companions are now nestled in a picturesque farmhouse in West Chester. Sally Downey profiled the relocation in The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Six years ago, they were living in Berwyn and looking to find a bigger place to accommodate their four cats, two dogs, two rabbits, fish, and their horse, Spike.

They fell in love with the stone farmhouse on three gorgeous acres. They were particularly taken with its red barn, paddock, tractor shed, garden space, and large pasture.

They bought the little farm — which they named AllaFiné (Italian for “at last”) — and immediately augmented the menagerie with donkeys Mama and Mia.

Rhodes turned the tractor shed into the Flower Shack, where she designs arrangements for clients of her WhisperWind Studios business and holds floral classes.

Inside the home, they created perfect spaces for work and relaxation, including the music room with its small fireplace, where Rhodes gave piano lessons before the pandemic started.

They also turned the former summer kitchen into Braxton’s office.
