The Kendal Corporation plans to leave Kennett Square and relocate its headquarters to the new FinTech building on the STAR (Science, Technology, and Advanced Research) Campus of the University of Delaware. The nonprofit is a senior-housing advocate. Matt Hooke boxed up the migration’s motivators for the Newark Post.

According to CEO Sean Kelly, one of the reasons for the move is the corporation’s relationship with Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, another STAR Campus organization. It also hopes to develop a partnership with several University of Delaware entities, including the College of Health Sciences, the School of Public Policy and Administration, and the School of Nursing.

The strategy is intended to provide Kendal with services and help recruit more graduates to the senior-living field.

“There’s an incredible movement in our field to bring greater awareness about what the sector can provide in the way of a professional career,” said Kelly.

He said that nursing students are able to complete their clinicals at Kendal facilities.

Kendal plans to move to its new offices this summer. Currently, around 40 people work at the Kennett Square site. Meanwhile, many employees will continue to work in a hybrid model, spending time both at home and the office.
