Grocery Shoppers in Devon — and All Over the Country — Voice Frustration with Soaring Prices

By

Grocery shoppers in Devon and all over the country are dealing with rising prices that show no sign of abating. Dawn Timmeney reported the expensive trend and a few techniques for dealing with it for FOX 29.

“Ninety dollars for nothing,” said Marisella Campos. “Just fruits and vegetables and a box of coffee. Like three or four bags. Nothing. But, you need food, and you need groceries.”

According to Credible.com Personal Finance Expert Dan Roccato, grocery prices are being pushed through the roof by two factors: supply-chain issues caused by the pandemic and increased payroll expenses to retain employees.

Overall, groceries are up six and a half percent year-over-year.

“Some specific products have really gone up,” said Roccato. “For example, beef up 18.6 percent, bacon 16.3 percent, fresh fruit is up 7.3 percent, and coffee 6.3 percent.”

To save money, he suggests buying in bulk, using shopping apps, and cashing in loyalty coupons.

“Pull out all the tricks, ’cause you are going to need them right now,” said Roccato.
