Devon native Katie Detwiler, a senior lacrosse player at Loyola (Md.) University and the reigning Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, has been placed on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for the 2022 season.

The Tewaaraton Award Watch List consists of the nation’s Top 25 women’s lacrosse players and is the initial watch list for the sport’s most prestigious award. Detwiler’s teammate, Livy Rosenzweig, was also named to the list.

“It’s awesome for Livy and Katie to be recognized among the nation’s best by the prestigious Tewaaraton Award Committee,” said Loyola coach Jen Adams. “We are excited for them to have a chance to reaffirm that they are two of the top players in the country. We can’t wait to see what they’re able to accomplish this season.”

Detwiler, a graduate of Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor, is one of only seven defenders selected to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. She has consistently shut down opponents’ top attackers throughout her career and was named a second-team All-American last season by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Starting all 41 games throughout her career, Detwiler has accumulated 54 ground balls, 28 caused turnovers, and 64 draw controls.
