Three competitors from Splitting Edge Axe Throwing in Malvern took part in the 2021 World Axe Throwing Championship in Fort Worth, Texas. Bill Rettew cut through the fluff to report the story for the Daily Local News.

Matt Bartnicki, marketing manager at Splitting Edge, was excited to show off his Eagles pride by wearing the team’s jersey during the competition.

“I love the community of people I’ve met through this, both league members and customers,” he said. “I love how it brings everyone together and a little competition doesn’t hurt either.”

Bartnicki qualified for the tournament, along with brothers Tyler Seidel and Colin Seidel. To be invited for the largest axe throwing tournament of the year, top throwers from around the globe have to earn their bids by competing in leagues, tournaments, invitationals, and circuit events.

This year, the top 128 throwers who qualified for the tournament competed for $50,000 in prizes. The final four throwers competed live on ESPN on Saturday.

All three throwers from Splitting Edge participated in the singles “Standard Hatchet” tournament, while the brothers also took part in the “Duals” tournament.
