Malvern actor Ben Dibble has wowed audiences as the lead actor in Arden Theatre Company’s production of the award-winning musical Into the Woods, writes Ruth Rovner for the Daily Local News. 

The play follows several characters from fairy tales, including Cinderella, Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk, and a baker and his wife who want to have a child. 

“It’s ingenious the way (Stephen) Sondheim created musical characters that tie the story together,” said Dibble. 

The award-winning actor plays the leading role of the baker.

“He and his wife are trying to have a child, but they are unable to,” said Dibble. “They’ve been under a witch’s curse, and they have to go on a journey into the woods. It’s a beautiful story of the baker and his wife re-connecting as a couple.” 

While the play is challenging in both the acting and singing departments, it is nothing that Dibble cannot handle. The actor has so far been in more than 80 productions on area stages and has earned 15 Barrymore nominations, two of which he won.
