Vanguard has leased an office building at the Ellis Preserve in Newtown Square and is looking for more space in the suburbs to continue its expansion, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

“Vanguard routinely evaluates its real estate portfolio, ensuring our office space and locations fit the current and future needs of our growing crew-base and clients,” said Alyssa Thornton, a Vanguard spokeswoman.

The 240,000-square-foot building at Ellis Preserve was built for Atlantic Richfield and was later sold to Sunoco. It is owned by what is now Sunoco LP.

The building was renovated to serve as Sunoco headquarters before the company moved in six years ago. However, Sunoco soon decided to shift its headquarters to Dallas.

Vanguard maintains a large campus in Malvern, and it has room available to grow there. In November 2019, the investment giant opened a 225,000-square-foot building called Neptune. The company also leases space in another Great Valley building, as well as in Chesterbrook, and it maintains a space in Philadelphia.
