Unionville Couple Deletes Tech Careers, Trading Them for Something More ‘Tangible’

Jessie Mooberry and Soren Rubin left their technology jobs in San Francisco amidst the pandemic to open Farmer & Co. The community-minded artisanal market, coffee bar, and garden is in Unionville, writes Richard Gaw for the Chester County Press.

“In San Francisco, we were creating virtually. But we had a dream that would allow us to create something tangible — a physical manifestation of a community space,” said Rubin.

The pair opened the doors in late July and are planning to hold a grand opening today, Aug. 27.

Farmer & Co focuses on local and sustainable organic provisions and is aiming to become a great community gathering space.

The menu offers freshly-brewed coffee, baked goods, and delicious pastries, along with a rotating list of handmade ice cream. Flavors include fresh ginger with candied lemon and garden basil with a raspberry swirl.

Customers can also pick up grab-and-go sandwiches and salads, made from produce raised in the “village garden” located directly behind the building.

The marketplace offers various products from area vendors, from meat to coffee beans to apothecary products.
