Pottstown Restaurant Makes Final Round of Cheesesteak Madness Tournament but Falls Just Short of the Crown

Tony Joe’s House of Great Eats in Pottstown made the final round of the Cheesesteak Madness Tournament but ultimately fell short of taking the crown, writes Amanda Brady for 6ABC.

Jim Pappas, who has eaten more than 800 tasty steak sandwiches over the years, set out on a journey to find the ultimate cheesesteak in the Philadelphia region.

Once he had narrowed it down to the best 16, he then enlisted the help of three other cheesesteak experts to help him select the winner.

Along with Pappas, Mark Twersky, Amigo Dan Matassino, and Diane Farina managed to eat their way through the 16 short-listers until they had narrowed it down to the final two: Tony Joe’s House of Great Eats and Phil & Jim’s Steaks & Hoagies in Brookhaven.

Choosing the winner was not an easy task, but the panel gave Phil & Jim’s the nod.
