Malvern Prep junior Coltin Deery, who plays on both the offensive and defensive line in football and is one of the Top 10 scholastic wrestlers in his weight class in the nation, will play both sports on the next level at the University of Maryland, writes Tristan Klinefelter for Pennsylvania Football News.

Among the main reasons the 6-foot-3, 285-pound Deery chose the Terps are the feelings of family the coaches there have cultivated and being given the option to continue competing in both sports.

“Both (football) Coach (Mike) Locksley and (wrestling) Coach (Alex) Clemsen were supportive of me both playing football and wrestling,” said Deery. “They both have a plan to make it happen and told me the plan. I have always wanted to be an All-American in both football and wrestling.”

Additionally, he plans to major in architecture, a program at Maryland that’s held in high regard.

Deery has been in the recruiting process for more than a year. With 38 scholarship offers, he had a tough decision on his future.

“Maryland came in January, and when I started spending more time with Coach Locksley and (Elijah) Brooks, I knew they had everything I wanted, so I pulled the trigger,” he said.
