Movie Based on Growing Up in Delco Gets Released on Friday

Actors Bruce Dern and Jeremy Piven star in "Last Call."

You could say that Greg Lingo’s life lessons make up the script for his movie, Last Call, which is slated for release on Friday, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

The movie tells the story of a successful real estate developer who returns home for a funeral, reconnects with his old blue-collar Irish neighborhood, then must decide whether to save or raze his family’s bar.

Lingo graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1990 and became a successful real estate developer.

Impatient in his youth to leave Delco, Lingo now lives and works on the Main Line and is eager to share his youth experiences and his lifelong friendships in Upper Darby.

You’ll find it in the film.

Lingo co-wrote the script with the film’s director, Paolo Pilladi. The script is based on a story by Lingo and two Upper Darby friends, Billy Reilly and Mike Baughan.

“Over 10 years ago, the three of us sat down and recorded some of the really funny memories we had of growing up in Upper Darby,” said Lingo, a Radnor resident.

The bar in the movie, Callahan’s Tavern, is modeled after Callahan’s and Cawley’s Tavern in Upper Darby.
