The Manfredi family, which owns Manfredi Cold Storage in Kennett Square, has been quietly helping destitute families have brighter holidays for years, but never more so than this year, writes Fran Maye for the Daily Local News.

For the last 15 years, the family has annually donated more than 1,000 chickens and turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas to the Kennett Food Cupboard. This year, the Manfredis were once again responsible for the huge inflow of chickens and turkeys over the holidays, prompting food cupboard officials to publicly acknowledge their generosity.

“The Manfredi family has a heart of charity and great love for this community,” said Leah Reynolds, executive director of Kennett Area Community Service. “We are fortunate they call this area home. We are thankful they ‘love thy neighbor’ and emphasize its importance by their generosity.”

She said that Manfredi Cold Storage has become an integral part of the community by providing residents with employment opportunities while quietly engaging in philanthropy.

“Frank, John, and Frankie Jr. have always been guys that this community can count on,” said Reynolds. “Their inconspicuous giving has been the norm with Manfredi.”
