Inspired by National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Malvern Family Turns Home into Winter Wonderland

By

The Clymer family from Malvern turns its home into a winter wonderland each year, drawing inspiration from Longwood Gardens and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, writes Eileen Smith Dallabrida for Main Line Today.

For Michelle Clymer, the whole process has extra meaning since she was born on Christmas Day. She also comes from a large family, where big celebrations are a cherished tradition.

Therefore, each year, Michelle and her husband Matt – along with their three children: Addison, Hudson, and Reagan – head out to choose the perfect tree at Yeager’s Farm & Market in Phoenixville the day after Thanksgiving. The tree is then placed in front of a soaring bank of windows in the living room.

The angel on top commemorates the couple’s first holiday together. Among the other ornaments are small portraits of the family, as well as those of the fictional Griswold family from one of their favorite movies.

They even put up a nativity scene handed down by Michelle’s mother and a small vintage sleigh. Michelle also styles all the lights after what she sees at Longwood Gardens.
