Inspired by His Son, Downingtown Father Launches Campaign to Raise Money for Special Needs Community
Inspired by his five-year-old son with epilepsy, Downingtown resident Sean Dennis has launched the “Hope” campaign to raise money for the special needs community, writes Matteo Iadonisi for 6ABC.
His goal is to help people who seem to be losing hope – especially in these times – regain some.
“In circumstances like my son, Arlo, where you’ve tried every medication they have and nothing’s worked, the message is just never give up hope,” said Dennis.
Arlo experienced a seizure soon after birth that over the following years grew into epileptic spasms and developmental delay. Through their experience, the family learned about high costs of equipment.
“You start hearing stories of other families who have kids with special needs and the prices for special needs equipment is astronomical,” said Dennis.
So, he decided to launch OneThread Apparel and started a t-shirt campaign to raise money for them.
The campaign works alongside the #PurpleStrong, which is designated to raise awareness for epilepsy.
The goal is to raise $20,000, which would be used to provide anything from a qualified babysitter to an adaptive swimming pool chair.
To help reach that goal, Dennis also started a GoFundMe campaign.
