The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with QVC to deck the halls of downtown West Chester with “QVC Lights Up West Chester.” This installation will continue all season long to share the holiday spirit in support of West Chester’s small business community.

GWCC typically hosts the annual QVC West Chester Christmas Parade, which attracts thousands of spectators, shoppers, and diners to the downtown region. However, in September, GWCC announced its cancellation of the 2020 parade out of concern for public safety amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an effort to show support to local businesses in downtown West Chester for the holidays, the chamber worked with QVC to replace this year’s parade with QVC Lights Up West Chester, an initiative where four blocks of Gay Street in the central business district are decorated with special lighting, bows on lampposts, and an FM radio loop complete with classic Christmas tunes.

Each of the brightly decorated blocks of Gay Street are sponsored by local businesses, including: West Pharmaceuticals; CTDI; Lamb McErlane, PC; Media One Products; My Benefit Advisor; Arthur Hall Insurance; Fred Beans Ford of West Chester; Lavazza Professional; and Rothman Orthopedic Institute.

“When we cancelled this year’s QVC West Chester Christmas Parade, we knew it was still vitally important to attract guests to West Chester to safely support our downtown businesses,” said GWCC’s Interim President Dave Fairman. “The chamber is fortunate to have QVC as a partner. With their support and cooperation, downtown West Chester looks wonderful! I encourage everyone to really make it a point to shop locally this season and always.”

“QVC is proud to be the title sponsor of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce’s QVC Lights Up West Chester initiative in this extraordinary year,” said Suzanne Quigley, Director of Corporate Responsibility for Qurate Retail Group, home to QVC. “We know that small businesses are the backbone of a community, and we are happy to celebrate them through this festive program in our beautiful hometown of West Chester.”
