Uptown! Releases Video of ‘The Pandemic, the Economy, and the Future of Live Entertainment’

Uptown! Entertainment Alliance has released the live stream of its recent event entitled “The Pandemic, the Economy, and the Future of Live Entertainment.”

The moderated talk looks at the economic toll of the pandemic and offers predictions on the nation’s fiscal recovery based on statistical data.

Dr. Mark Zandi, Chief Analyst of Moody’s Analytics, walks the audience through the country’s current financial standing and how the outcome of the presidential election is anticipated to shape its recovery.

“We really do need the federal government to step back up and let everyone know they have their small businesses back,” said Zandi.

He is joined by Hal Real, founder and CEO of World Café Live and co-founder of NIVA (National Independent Venue Association), who speaks about the impact the mandated closures and restrictions are having on the live arts industry.

The event was the Uptown! Entertainment Alliance’s first live-stream event and was presented as part of its Speaker Series. The pivot to virtual events is one of the ways Uptown! is shifting its efforts to continue offering content and entertainment.

The nonprofit is also focusing on its $500,000 fundraising effort, “Raise Up! the Curtain,” which has a matching pledge challenge by local philanthropist Penny Wilson. Those wishing to contribute can make a donation by clicking here or calling 610-356-ARTS (2787).
