Malvern-based Acme Markets helped make Thanksgiving better for people struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic by delivering meals and gift cards ahead of the holiday to several local families, writes Sheila Watko for NBC 10.

The grocery chain delivered Thanksgiving meals that included a turkey, stuffing, and all the fixings. Also, just in case there was something else the recipients needed that was not included in the meal, Acme also provided them with a $100 gift certificate.

The goal, said the Acme representative who delivered the meals, was to help people have a better Thanksgiving than the situation would allow.

“And we want to just try to make their lives a little bit better,” she said. “We can’t change the world, but we can help them get a little bit more food.”

All of the recipients were overjoyed to receive the food and were very touched by the gesture.

“It brought tears to my eyes,” said one of the beneficiaries. “Just because it’s a generous offer.”
