Albertsons, the parent company of Acme and several other grocery brands, is planning to follow up on its IPO with structural changes that include a new Mid-Atlantic Division headquartered in Malvern, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The new division will be formed this fall when Acme Markets and the eastern division of Albertsons combine as part of the company’s efforts to streamline operations. The Mid-Atlantic Division of Albertsons will be housed in the Great Valley Corporate Center and will oversee 275 stores across several states.

As part of the reorganization, the division will also maintain a single distribution center in Denver, Pa. It will also move its warehousing from Maryland to a facility near Lancaster.

The division will have around 280 employees in its field and regional offices.

“It is too soon to know how many people will be actually located in the Malvern office and who will be stationed in the smaller satellite office,” said Acme spokeswoman Dana Ward. “We probably won’t know that until mid-August.”

And while the Malvern offices will remain approximately the same size, the company is planning to renovate the space.
